I’ve decided to use this blog, not only to talk about some of the things that I’m working on myself, but also to discuss literature - in all its forms - in greater depth.

I’m currently involved in a new blog called The Monday Project, which has been created to inspire or encourage anyone with a creative bent to use and explore their talents. Each month we throw something out there to inspire a new project and set a deadline by which to respond to that stimulus. The stimulus could be anything from a word to a picture to a piece of clothing, and we’re hoping that the projects created in response will be similarly diverse. Some time in the future we might put a few more limitations on the projects, but at this stage we’re just hoping to inspire a few people to pick up their tools of trade and get creatin’!

As such, I’d like to use this blog to explore my own particular area of creative interest: writing. So I’ll probably post up some book reviews, talk about authors that I like, direct you to interesting jottings about books etc. I’ll also keep posting short fiction.

For starters, I (and probably half the rest of the world) am a big fan of short-story champion, Dave Eggers. You can learn about his publishing company, McSweeney’s here. I’m a subscriber, so each quarter I get a package in the mail that’s bursting with short stories. The last was a small hard-cover book, which I haven’t had a chance to read yet (blame moving interstate), but the McSweeney’s package has also been known to come in pamphlet form…
